Katandra Mountain Farm House

Escape to the Lost World Valley

Picturesque Lost World ValleyKatandra Mountain Farm House is just one and a half hours from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast. It is set in the picturesque Lost World Valley and overlooks the brooding mountains of Lamington National Park.

An ideal spot for a getaway or group gathering - there are three bedrooms and a bunk room - so bring a crowd.

Stroll through the olive grove

You will have plenty of room with two large living areas and the whole farm to explore.

Stroll through the olive grove or explore and swim in the creek.

In winter curl up in front of the indoor open fireplace
or year round outdoor camp fire setting. In summer there are great swimming spots in the creek and cooler mountain conditions. Our big verandahs are made to catch the breeze for a fine lazy time.

Curl up in front of a fire

Hike, swim, fish, picnic at the old bush hut or just relax under the giant fig tree and read a book. There are plenty of activities further afield also with wineries, horse riding, Border Ranges National Park, country pubs and lazy drives!

Katandra is fully self contained. It is well equipped with 3 toilets and showers, cookware, all linen, video, book and music library. All you need to bring is your own food and drink.

The Setting:

You will be staying on a farm. As part of your stay we encourage you to take a stroll through the olive grove or inspect the herd of cattle as they pop their heads over the house yard fence. Sheep and horse feeding and patting and also egg collecting is available by arrangement. Most people take advantage of the great picnic spot by the creek in the old hut. Relax by the water as it flows down off the mountain peaks and get a feel for the times of more rustic living (Before returning to the modern comforts of the house of course). Swim or just chill out by the stream. It is a fantastic way to while away an afternoon.

Driving Directions:

From Brisbane or the Gold Coast make your way to Beaudesert. At the traffic lights in the centre of Beaudesert head south along Kerry Road towards Kerry and Darlington. From North it is straight ahead through the lights and from Gold Coast/East it is left at the lights. DO NOT make the mistake of taking the Mt Lindesay Hwy at this point. You want to be on Kerry Rd (Satellite Navigation Systems may not tell you the correct road!!). You will know you are on the right road if you pass the golf club to your left as you leave town. Set your trip meter at the lights and you will will find Katandra is exactly 32.13 klms along Kerry Rd. Do not take any turns or side roads. You will cross the Albert River several times. The last bridge crossing is Newton Bridge and Katandra is a few kilometres past that on the left hand side. It has a Mailbox with a green roof and rural number 3213 clearly marked. Take the left hand fork of the driveway after the driveway bridge crossing
